About the Motorcycle

Developed in 2001 the Honda RC211V is a four-stroke racing motorcycle manufactured by Honda Racing Corporation.  For the 2002 World Championship motorcycle road racing there were major changes to the regulations.  The class name was changed to MotoGP.  Motorcycles with 4-cyclinder, 4-stroke engines as large as 990cc were allowed.  In 2003 Nicky Haden became one of the factory drivers.   There were modifications done to the bike to centralize mass and improve stability for him.  In five seasons the RC211V won 48 out of 82 races.  It also won World Championship with Hayden in 2006.

Nicholas Hayden, born in 1981 and died in 2017, was an American professional motorcycle racer.  He began racing at a young age and his road racing career in the CMRA, before progressing to AMA Supersport Championship and AMS Superbike Championship.  In 2017 while riding his bicycle in Italy, he was hit by a driver and died 5 days later.

About the Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
