Description

About the car

This car was part of the BMW E9 series that were introduced in 1972. The 3.0 CSL was a homologation special built to make the car eligible for racing in the European Touring Car Championship. The car is a coupe.

The “L” in the designation meant leicht (light), unlike in other BMW designations, where it meant lang (long). The car was able to reach top speeds of 155 mph and accelerate 0 to 60 Miles in 6.5 seconds. The car features the M30 engine.

The modifications made to the 3.0 CSL proved to be a winning formula. The 3.0 CSL driven by the team of De-Fierlant/Grohs/Betzler finished first and won the Vandvoort Trophy in 1975.
