About the car

The BMW M1 Procar Championship is a car competition created by Jochen Neerpasch, head of BMW Motorsport, the racing department of the German car manufacturer BMW.

The BMW M1 is a GT sports car from the German car manufacturer BMW-BMW M. It was produced from 1978 to 1981, and although it was a commercial failure, it was one of the most mythical sports cars of its time, thanks to its record of success in competition.

Its engine, which was later carried over into the M635CSI, featured a 24-valve cylinder head already seen on the CSL Group 2 coupes, a mechanical fuel injection system, electronic ignition, and a dry-sump lubrication system. The 277 horsepower and 33.5 mkg of torque are transmitted via a ZF gearbox and a dual-disc clutch. Equipped with a displacement increased to 3,498 cm3. It reaches 470 horsepower at nearly 9,000 rpm.
