About the Car

The BMW M6 GT3 is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 engine with M Twin Power Turbo technology.  It is rated up to 577hp with a sequential 6-speed transmission.   It replaced the Z4 roadster and has better drivability and efficiency.

The 2016 24 Hours of Nurburgring was held in May 2016.  The Nürburgring 1000 km was held in Nürburgring, Germany as a sports car endurance race since 1953.  The competition usually took 44 laps.  The inaugural race won by Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Farina in a Ferrari counted towards the 1953 World Sportscar Championship.  The attendance was disappointing due to no serious German entrant.  The race was cancelled in 1954 due to the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR not being ready.  It was also cancelled in 1955 due to the Le Mans disaster.  However, it did get quite popular in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

About the Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
