About the Car

The full name of this racing team is BWT Racing Point F1 Team.  The team was founded by Lawrence Stoll and is based in Silverstone, England.  The engine for this Formula One car was built by BWT Mercedes for Racing Point.  BWT is an Austrian manufacturing company of water treatment systems and became the team’s new sponsor in 2019.  Sergio Perez was to race in the British Grand Prix in 2020 but tested positive for COVID-19.  Nico Hulkenberg was the substitute driver for the British Grand Prix and the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix.

Nico Hulkenberg born in 1987 is a German professional racing driver.  He started racing in 2010, and has driven for several different racing teams including Racing Point.  Unfortunately, he holds the record for the most Formula One starts without a podium finish.

Held in August 2020, the 70th Anniversary of Grand Prix was a one-off Formula One race held at Silverstone Circuit in the United Kingdom.  The race was a 70-year commemoration race at the same circuit that hosted the first Grand Prix in 1950.

About the Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
