Description

About the car:

The McLaren MP4/8 is a single-seater designed by British engineer Neil Oatley and entered by McLaren Racing for the 1993 Formula One season. It was driven by Brazilian Ayrton Senna, three-time world champion with McLaren, and rookie Michael Andretti, son of 1978 Formula One World Champion Mario Andretti. It enabled Ayrton Senna to win five races during the season.

On 28 September 1993, at the Estoril circuit, the McLaren MP4/8B, a test car derived from the MP4/8, carried out its only test drive to allow McLaren to judge the Lamborghini engine that the team planned to use for the end of the 1993 season. For contractual reasons, McLaren will not use the Italian V12, although it has given Ayrton Senna complete satisfaction.

Lamborghini hoped to conclude an engine supply agreement for the 1994 season, but McLaren finally signed with Peugeot.
