About the car

The triumph TR6 is a classic sports car, and was produced by the well-renowned British Triumph Motor Company between 1969 and 1976. Its bodywork was first constructed in Liverpool, in September 1968, and by the end of that same year, almost 1,500 models had been made. Assembly within UK markets didn’t begin until early January 1969, however. The TR6 was by far the best-seller of the entire TR range when its production came to an end (a record which would later be surpassed by its successor, the TR7). A total of 91,850 TR6s were produced, and out of those, 83,480 were exported. Astonishingly, only 8,370 were sold in the UK. The car was known for its agility blended with style and comfort, and the two-door convertible layout was and still is massively popular amongst enthusiasts.

About The Brand

Triumph Motor Company, founded in 1885, was a British car and motor manufacturing company making its first car in 1923.  They started out importing bicycles from Europe and selling them under their own name.  Leyland Motors acquired the company in 1960, where the Triumph brand was immersed into the British Leyland Specialist Division.  The marque was finally retired in 1984, remaining dormant under British Leyland’s successor Rover Group.  Currently the rights to marque are owned by BMW, when they purchased the Rover Group in 1994.

About The Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
