About the car

This car was produced by French automobile manufacturer, Alpine, which was known to work very closely with another French automobile manufacturer, Renault. The A110 could be thought of as a Renault sports car due to the multiple parts produced and supplied by Renault in the making of it, including the engine and the 5-gear manual transmission.

The Alpine A110 was known to dominate rally racing throughout the 1970’s due to a low suspension; the rear-mounted placement of the engine – giving it good traction off the starting line and a beneficial braking balance; a weight of just 635kg, and a bhp of 140. By the end of the 1973 season of rally racing, the Renault Alpine A110 had six glorious victories to its name.

The #5 Alpine A110 came an impressive 2nd behind another A110 in the 1973 Tour de Corse. The sports car was being driven by Jean-François Piot and his team member Jean De Alexandris.
