Volvo 740 is a wagon from the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. It was manufactured between spring 1984 and summer 1992. This was a cheaper version of the 760, launched two years before, which was equipped with 4-cylinder engines. In 1984, Volvo launched the 740. It had the same body as its big sister, the 760, but with less powerful engines and less equipment. Two four-cylinder petrol engines were available at the launch, a 2.3-litre injection engine with 131 bhp and a 2.0-litre Turbo engine with 150 bhp.
About the Brand Sweden-based Volvo Cars is a car brand and a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive group Geely. Established in 1927, the brand is based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Initially owned by the Swedish car, truck and machinery conglomerate AB Volvo, AB Volvo’s consumer car business, under the name Volvo Cars, belonged to the Ford Group (a U.S. car manufacturer based in Dearborn) for 11 years before being acquired by the Geely Group in 2010.
