About the car
The BMW E9 was launched in October 1968 with the 2800 CS model with a 2.8-litre six-cylinder engine and 170 horsepower, which succeeded the BMW 2000 C/CS model. Developed by BMW’s chief designer Wilhelm Hofmeister, with a new front end and a lengthened engine compartment to accommodate an in-line 6-cylinder engine inherited from the BMW E3 2500/2800 saloons, this BMW M30 engine would do much to establish BMW’s reputation. The chassis E9 is assembled at the famous German coachbuilder.
