About the car
The BMW 3.0 CSL was developed by BMW’s competition division as a homologation model in order to be able to race, as required by regulations, in European touring car competitions. In addition, BMW replaces the 2800 CS with the 3.0 CS powered by a 3L (3,000cc) carbureted 180hp engine and the 3.0 CSL with 215hp. It features power steering and 4-disc brakes which were sorely lacking in the previous version.
