Description
About the car
The BMW New Six CS was a two-door coupé built for BMW. The “L” in the designation meant leicht (light), unlike in other BMW designations, where it meant lang (long). The 3.5 CSL featured the M52 engine. It had a capacity of 3.5-liters with a new output of 370hp.
The car was nicknamed the “Bat Mobile” due to its homol0gated aerodynamic parts. The parts include a deep front air dam, an air guide in the place where the roof is connected to the rear window, and a large rear spoiler. The fins on the front fenders, which were wider on the back to fit the wider tires, was also one of those parts.
At the Silverstone 6h race in 1976, the Alpina team entered the BMW 3.5 CSL. Under the starting number 3 the drivers Hughes de Fierlant and Harald Grohs managed to finish 4th overall.
