About the Car
The BMW MI produced by the German manufacturer BMW from 1978 to 1981 is a mid-engine sports car. The M1 was initiated by Jochen Neerpasch to participate in motorsports and compete with rival Porsche. He wanted the car to be a mid-engine to outclass his competitors. BMW partnered with Lamborghini to produce the 400 road going examples of the car in the specified time period as set by the rules. Unfortunately, BMW took back over the project in 1978 when it appeared that Lamborghini was having some financial problems. Due to the delay and change of Group 5 rules, the company competed in Group 4 racing.
Created by Jochen Neerpasch, the BMW M1 Procar Championship was a one-make auto racing series, pitting professionals from Formula One Championship, World Sportscar Championship, European Touring Car Championship against one another using identical BMW M1 sports cars.
The Toleman company was formed by Edward Toleman in 1926 to deliver Ford cars from their factory in Manchester, England.
Frank Sytner, born in 1944, a British racing driver started racing in the early 1970’s. He won the 1988 British Touring Car Championship driving a BMW M3. He drove for the Toleman Group Motorsport in the Procar Series 1979.

About the Manufacturer
Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH. The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order. From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book. Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang. There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s. That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art. Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered. Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
