The 190E 2.5-16 Evo 2 was produced by Mercedes as part of the W201 range. This was the company’s first compact class automobile.
The 190E 2.5-16 Evo 2 was a sports car produced by Mercedes specifically to compete in the DTM championships. Mercedes had failed to score a victory in the DTM Championship. The 190E Evo 2 featured 4-cylinder engine with 235 hp at 7,200 rpm. The Evo 2 reached a top speed of 250 km/h and 0-60 km/h in 7.1 seconds.
The Evo 2 gave Mercedes victory in DTM championship with Keke Rosberg winning at Wunstorf Airfield Race in 1992. The Evo 2 enabled Mercedes dominate the 1992 DTM season of 24 races with 16 victories, 17 second places and 13 third places. In all, 502 units of the Evo 2 were produced.
