About the car
The Toro Rosso STR3 is the second car entered by the Scuderia Toro Rosso team in the 2008 Formula One World Championship. The successor to the STR2B, the car was entered in thirteen Grands Prix and helped the team win its first Grand Prix with Sebastian Vettel in Italy.
Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Bourdais had their best qualifying performances of the year at the Italian Grand Prix. Indeed, Bourdais qualified on the second row for the first time in his career, while Vettel won the first Grand Prix in the team’s history.
The chassis is derived from that of the Red Bull RB4, except that it is powered by a Ferrari engine that develops thirty more horsepower than the Renault Sport’s V8. It has a molded carbon fibre and aluminum honeycomb monocoque and a V8 engine, which reaches up to 18,000 rpm. The car has an engine named Ferrari Tipo 056 and a displacement of 2398 cc.
About the Brand
Established as Scuderia Toro Rosso in 2006, and now Scuderia Alphatauri, is an Italian Formula One team founded in late 2005, following the takeover of the Minardi F1 team by the Austrian Red Bull Group. It made its racing debut at the Bahrain GP in the 2006 Formula One World Championship. The team is the junior team of Red Bull Racing, which trains young drivers from Red Bull’s promotional formulas. Its former name, ‘Toro Rosso’, is simply the Italian translation of Red Bull, meaning ‘red bull’.
