About the Jaguar XJ 220
The Jaguar XJ 220 was well-known for attaining the top speeds amongst series production cars, reaching up to 350 km/h between 1992 and 1994. The Jaguar XJ 220 is unique in its design, as the concept originated from Jaguar employees of the time. A working group referred to as ‘The Saturday Club’ was created by a group of employees who were invested in creating innovative projects outside of their scope of work. This led to the creation of a concept car, which was presented at the British Motor Show in 1988, which generated public interest. This led to the initial design of the Jaguar XJ 220, which was released in 1991. The car was both powerful and light, and had many of the characteristics found in the top sports cars. The design was refreshing and original, with modern lines and a streamlined look. Soon after production, this car became a favourite, especially amongst wealthy businessmen and even internationally-known celebrities.
