Volvo 740 is a wagon from the Swedish car manufacturer Volvo. It was manufactured between spring 1984 and summer 1992. This was a cheaper version of the 760, launched two years before, which was equipped with 4-cylinder engines.
In 1984, Volvo launched the 740. It had the same body as its big sister, the 760, but with less powerful engines and less equipment. Two four-cylinder petrol engines were available at the launch, a 2.3-litre injection engine with 131 bhp and a 2.0-litre Turbo engine with 150 bhp.

Sweden-based Volvo Cars is a car brand and a subsidiary of the Chinese automotive group Geely. Established in 1927, the brand is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.
