Mahindra Racing have been a competitor in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since its Inception. The two drivers currently representing are the British duo of Alexander Sims and Alex Lynn, and they led the team as they headed into Formula E’s first-ever World Championship season in 2020/21.
Whilst Mahindra are a billion-dollar global car enterprise that is based in India, they were certainly far from established in the world of single-seater racing. Formula E served as a wonderful opportunity to make a name for themselves in the racing industry. They already specialised in the manufacturing of electric cars, and they utilised their competition in the championship as an extremely fast-paced ‘test-bed’ to develop and refine their innovative electric vehicle technology.
As a whole, the team scored their first victory in the 2016/17 campaign, but the real success came a year later. In the 2017/18 season, which was season five, Mahindra went on to score two further victories thanks to the racing prowess of Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist, who was partnered with the German driver Nick Heidfeld.
