About the Team and Race
The NIO 333 FE Team, formerly the NIO Formula E Team, competes in the electric racing series FIA Formula E Championship. Based in Oxford, England, the team is owned by Shanghai Lisheng Racing Co Ltd. They have competed since the first season in 2014. Tom Dillmann and Oliver Turvey were the drivers for Season 5, 2018-2019. It was not a good year, the team only accumulated seven points.
During Season 5 the Gen2 race car was introduced with significant improvement in power, range, and halo driver protection system. For this season BMW, Nissan and DS Automobiles joined as official manufacturers.
Tom Dillmann, born in 1989, is a French racing car driver, debuting in 2015. He started karting in 2000. In 2004 he entered the Formula Renault 1600 Belgium series and started racing in Formula E cars in 2015. He took his first win in 2010 at the German Formula 3 Championship and second win at the 2016 Formula V8 3.5 series.
About the Manufacturer
Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH. The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order. From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book. Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang. There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s. That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art. Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered. Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
