Description
Nissan Skyline GTS-R – Dark Blue – (KSR18039BL):
The seventh generation Skyline R31 was launched in 1985. It was immediately an extraordinary success, revolutionary, in fact. A good-looking sports car that was still affordable, accessible and reliable.
A year later, in 1986, the fabled and longed-for two-door coupe equivalent was added to the line. It was called the GTS-R. Touted by many as ‘the ultimate version of the R31,’ the car was powered by Nissan’s RB20DET-R engine. 823 units were produced, and it had a completely revised version of the engine, fitted with a much larger turbocharger on a tubular steel manifold. It also had a bigger front-mounted intercooler, which boosted the power to 207 horsepower. Allegedly, some racing versions could reach in excess of 430 horsepower.
Using a front-engine, rear-wheel drive system that weighs 1,345 kilograms means that the GTS-R is far lighter than the subsequent GT-R models. It was world-renowned for its agility and speed.
The midnight blue model beautifully captures the subtle power of the Skyline GTS-R. The sleeping giant beneath the inconspicuous bodywork. It’s a popular cult hero nowadays, appearing in popular video games and movie franchises, and is undoubtedly one of Nissan’s greatest achievements.
