About the car
The Porsche 956 was created in 1981 to compete the following year in the new Group C world championship. It was the first monocoque conceived by the German manufacturer into which Porsche incorporated the twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder flat engine of the 936/81.
It won the 1981 Le Mans 24 Hours. In 1982, it achieved a triple win at Le Mans, entered by the factory itself in the colors of the cigar manufacturer Rothmans.
About the Brand
Founded on 25 April 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche and later taken over by his son Ferry Porsche, Porsche is a German racing car manufacturer. Ferdinand Porsche was the engineer who invented the first Volkswagen.
Despite the obstacles caused by COVID-19, the German car brand Porsche has set a new turnover target for 2020. Estimated at 28.7 billion euros, this is an increase of 100 million euros compared to 2019, at a time when profits are estimated at 4.2 billion euros. To achieve this performance, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer delivered more than 270,000 vehicles to its customers worldwide, which represents a decrease in sales volume compared to 2019.
