About the Car

Rory Byrne and Ros Brawn designed this Benetton B195 Formula One racing car for the Benetton Team in 1995.  The engine was a Renault RS7, 3,000 cc, V10 mid-engine, longitudinally mounted with 675-750 bhp.  The transmission was a Benetton transverse 6-speed semi-automatic.  The car debut in the 1995 Brazilian Grand Prix.  Notable drivers were Michael Schumacher and Johnny Herbert.  The car was less stable than the FW17 and seen by insiders as inferior to its rival.  During the 1995 season the car underwent two major design changes with the airbox and the front wing.

The Benetton Formula, Ltd is owned by the Benetton family who run a worldwide clothing store chain from 1986 to 2001.  Renault bought the team in 2000.

The 1995 Monaco Grand Prix at the Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo, Monaco was a Formula One motor race held in May 1995.  Michael Schumacher drove for the Benetton team and won the 78-lap race from the second position.  It was the 5th race of the 1995 Formula One World Championship.

About the Brand

Since 1977 Renault, a French automotive manufacturer, has been both a team owner and engine manufacturer for Formula One.  They introduced the turbo engine to Formula One.  In 1985 the Renault team withdrew from the Formula One racing, but then in 1989 returned as an engine manufacturer.  In 2000 they acquired the Enstone-based Benetton Formula team.   In 2002 the Enstone-based team was re-branded as Renault.  Over the years Renault was bought and sold but continued as an engine manufacturer.

About the Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
