About the BMW Gr 5
The BMW 320 Gr 5 made its race track debut in 1977, with its innovative design and large front spoiler. The model was equipped with a thoroughbred BMW Formula 2 racing engine, a 2-litre in-line four-cylinder unit that packed 300 bhp. On the track the BMW 320 was used by the Junior Team made up of up-and-coming young drivers Eddie Cheever, Marc Surer, and Manfred Winkelhock. These racers too the BMW all the way through the German Motor Racing championship, making it with the front-runners from the beginning. This car also participated in the World Championship of Marques, with Gilles Villeneuve and Eddie Cheever winning the chequered flag in the Six Hour Race. The BMW went on to win the 2.0-litre class in all seven races of the World Championship,
Apart from the spectacular design and technology invested in designing this car, the BMW 320 was also popular off the track. 28 Group 5 BMW 320i units were built in between 1977 and 1988.
This kit will need gluing and painting to complete, We recommend the use of Poly Cement Glue.
