This car was built by Italian car manufacturer, Fiat as part of the 131 series marketed from 1974 to 1984. In 1976, 400 examples of the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally were built for approval and certification in order to race in a given league or series (homologation). The main assembly centre for this car was at the Comprensorio di Mirafiori in Turin which is the headquarters and industrial district of Fiat.

The 2-door saloon Abarth Rally comes with a 16 valve straight-four 2.0 litre engine which is capable of producing up to 240bhp. This car was a very successful Group 4 rally car, winning the 22nd edition of the Rallye Sanremo and the ninth round of the World Rally Championship in 1980 with German drivers, Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer.
