Mercedes F1 W08 EQ Power+, Valentino Rossi – (110191746):
Nowadays, Formula One teams measure every single detail to the most intricate unit, and the W08 EQ Power+ is no different. Every single weight and size are measured to enhance and boost the performance in every aspect. The chassis is made of moulded carbon fibre, and is a honeycomb composite structure. The suspension is also completely made out of carbon fibre, shredding precious grams off of the total weight. The engine is a turbocharged Mercedes-AMG F1 M08 EQ Power+ V6, with a 1.6-litre capacity, and this works in tandem with both a Motor Generator Unit – Kinetic (MGU-K) and a Motor Generator Unit – Heat (MGU-H). It’s proficient enough to produce an absurd 1000 horsepower, and the entire car itself weighs just 728 kilograms.
Valentino Rossi, a world-renowned Moto GP racer, got the opportunity to switch vehicles with Lewis Hamilton at a track day in Valencia. In a historic moment for both racers, as well as their respective sports, they participated in an unprecedented track day by swapping car for bike and vice versa at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
Rossi said, “I was already a big fan of Lewis before, but now even more… trying the W08 was a spectacular opportunity for me… Sincerely, I was impressed with the car and its handling… at first you get an amazing sensation of speed. The G-forces were not so bad, but it takes some getting used to.”
