About the Car

The Mercedes W11 EQ is a Formula One racing car.  The car was designed by Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team to compete in the 2020 Formula One World Championship.  It has a 1.3L V6 turbocharged engine, and electric motor with an 8 speed semi-automatic transmission.  This car was driven by Lewis Hamilton in the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix.

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton born in 1985 is a British racing car driver, currently competing in Formula One cars for Mercedes.  He has won seven World Drivers’ Championship titles, and holds the record for most wins, pole positions and podium finishes.

The 2020 Eifel Grand Prix was held in October 2020 at Nurburg, Germany on the 3.2-mile layout.  With the 2020 season being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the FIA had to draft a new calendar for the year.   It was the eleventh round of the 2020 Formula One World Championship.  Lewis Hamilton won the race equaling Michael Schumacher’s record of most Grand Prix wins.

About the Manufacturer

Minichamps was founded in 1990 as a die-cast car producer in Aachen, Germany under the name of Paul’s Model Art GmbH.   The original company was the Danhausen, a trade company that made 1:43 scale models and sold them over the counter and mail order.  From 1971 to 1993 the company published the famous Danhausen World Model Car Book.  Danhausen was owned by the grandsons of Emma Danhausen – Hans Peter and Paul Gunter Lang.  There was a dispute between the brothers in the late 1980’s.  That is when Paul formed the Paul’s Model Art.  Diecast models were made more for the adult clientele and holding their value was a big question that needed to be answered.  Minichamps’ excellent quality has been noticed by Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Opel, and BMW.
