About the car

This car was manufactured by Toyota as part of the AE86 series which was on the production line in Japan from 1983 to 1987. The body style of the car is a 3-door lift-back with a front engine and rear-wheel drive. The AE86 name is inspired by an internal code from Toyota with the ‘A’ being the car’s engine (4A series), ‘E’ represents the Corolla (One of the two cars in the series), ‘8’ implies the fifth generation (E80 series) and ‘6’ represents the variation of this generation.

The AE86 originally came with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and later a 4-speed automatic transmission available. The 5-speed manual gearbox along with the car being light, affordable and easily modifiable inspired this car to be easily attached to racing, which is shown in the Japanese street racing series ‘Initial D’.

Due to this car’s popular culture, this model comes with a figure of the main character of the anime series Initial D, Takumi Fujiwara.
